Tired

I’m tired, bros and hoes. For the first time since I was born, I feel tired. Of everything.

Social Media

→ in reply to @lainchan

I rejected all social media all my life and I’m continuing to hate them will all my being. Despite this, i came across a group of people whom i want to contact, and they all use facebook, nothing else. I’m not that guy who expect a dozen people i barely know to just do what i want, even if i’m 100% positive that i am objectively right in this question.

So i created a facebook account, and wrote a message to one of the people. I swallowed that i have to give my real phone number, i hate it but did it after some loud cursing. After about the third login, it made me solve a captcha, whatever, i solve a few stupid puzzles if it means i can have friends again. Then it did what made me furious: it started requiring a “video selfie”, that is basically a full scan of your head with your phone camera. They literally require a model of you. I started reading, and people say even if i do this, it will soon start to require a photo of my ID card, so asking a homeless person to do the “video selfie” in exchange for some liquor is not enough. It won’t let me use the account until i comply with their request. I can’t even check if that person replied to my message.

Yeah.

Mirari - A new PowerPC board in the making

As first reported by amiga-news.de, Harald “Geennaam” Kanning has developed a new PowerPC-based microATX motherboard called Mirari, built around the NXP T1042 CPU (four PowerPC e5500 cores). At the moment, five fully working units exist and, as you can see in the video below, they’re already capable of booting and running Linux. In the future, the board is also expected to support MorphOS and AmigaOS, provided there’s enough interest and goodwill from the developers of those systems. Izo, 2004

Izo, 2004

A really bizarre film by Takashi Miike, an elaborate thesis on mankind, but the real question is whether Takashi himself even has a clue. The journey in time and space of a slain samurai in search for vengeance, and him turning into a demon.

Are you so brutal because you are human or human because you are so brutal?

Se7en, 1995

Se7en, 1995

Masterful thriller movie by David Fincher, Morgan Freeman awesome as always, Brad Pitt with the same grimaces we can see in Fight Club and Troy. Shocking ending.

What sick ridiculous puppets we are / and what gross little stage we dance on / What fun we have dancing and fucking / Not a care in the world / Not knowing that we are nothing / We are not what was intended.

World of Warcraft private server that allows PowerPC clients

If you were wondering, the only World of Warcraft private server that allows a PowerPC Wrath of the Lich King client to connect to it is Dalaran. Not sure about the server’s population and features, but it’s the only one that works.

I Want to Love Linux. It Doesn’t Love Me Back

This isn’t a rant from someone who gave Linux a shot and bounced off.

This is from someone who’s used Linux full-time for years as a blind user—someone who knows the system inside out, who has made it work through manual configuration, scripting, rebuilding broken packages, and sheer force of will.

And still?

I’m exhausted. I Want to Love Linux. It Doesn’t Love Me Back

Naked Lunch, 1991

Naked Lunch, 1991

Skippable movie based on a trash book by a trash, disgusting and murdering “writer”. Peter Weller is a good actor, but I had no idea he’s into mumbling his lines, probably better suited for mumble rap. You will wish you had subtitles.

Did I ever tell you about the man who taught his asshole to talk? His whole abdomen would move up and down you dig farting out the words. It was unlike anything I had ever heard. This asshole talk had sort of a gut frequency. It hit you right down there like you gotta go.

Predator, 1987

Predator, 1987

Generic action movie, but good. They don’t make ’em like this anymore.

Billy. Billy! The other day, I was going down on my girlfriend. I said to her, “Jeez you got a big pussy. Jeez you got a big pussy.” She said, “Why did you say that twice?” I said, “I didn’t.”

See, ‘cause of the echo.

Philips 14PT 1354/58 TV, 14 inch, 2000

Philips 14PT 1354/58 TV

For the perfect price of half a goat in my country, I got myself a Philips 14PT 1354/58 TV, which is a mini 14" TV from 2000. I plan to use its Composite Video In RCA connector to get video signal from my Apple iBook and play Diablo 2 (and other games, obviously) just as Allah intended games to be played. It also has a SCART connector on the backside, but if I remember correctly, SCART sucks. Or something.

The TV seems to be in a very good state, the screws haven’t been altered, so after opening it up (just four screws, pfew) I faced the difficult task of de-dusting it. And there was an insane amount of dust, you know, the black type that sticks to the flyback transformer (remember not to touch the flyback transformer or the electron gun, when the unit is powered on, else you’ll have a really short (or really long) trip to the netherworld and back, if you’re lucky). At least I like to think it’s dust and not … you know … dead skin.

Took me few hours to clean up everything, after that I plugged in all the connectors and powered the TV on, switched the channel to EXT (External), plugged in my Apple M9109G/A Mini VGA to S-Video Adapter into the iBook and used a cable with RCA connectors to connect Composite Video In on the display to Composite Video Out on the adapter. And voila, it still works, 25 years later.

If you don’t like display mirroring, since this is an iBook not a PowerBook, and iBooks are locked by Apple into mirroring-only via firmware, you can use Screen Spanning Doctor to enable extended desktop. Extended desktop means you can configure each display independently and you can have 1024x768 on your iBook display and 800x600 on your TV display, the second display extending the main iBook one.

The CRT tube seems to be made in Spain (yupee) and the whole TV unit is made in Europe, whatever that means. Diablo, Diablo 2 and Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri on a CRT display? Hell yeah, at least until I manage to sell my house and get an Eizo display.

Metasploit module for CVE-2025-2563

→ in reply to @note#1746859212

This change adds a new module, exploit/multi/http/wp_user_registration_membership_escalation.rb, which targets CVE-2025-2563 in the WordPress User Registration & Membership plugin (Free < 4.1.2, Pro < 5.1.2). When the Membership Addon is enabled, the plugin fails to enforce role restrictions on its unauthenticated AJAX endpoint, allowing anyone to register a new account and assign it the administrator role. Add Unauthenticated privesc for WP User Registration & Membership plugin (CVE-2025-2563)

CorePlayer 1.3.6 for OS X Leopard (PowerPC)

CorePlayer (this is an official download mirror link, not cracked in any way) is one of the best and most optimized video players for OS X Leopard, and its binary can be patched and registered for perpetual use:

CorePlayer
We need to patch the bne operand

CorePlayer
Here bne is replaced by beq operand

$ cd /Applications/CorePlayer.app/Contents/MacOS
$ cp CorePlayer CorePlayer_backup
$ echo 002B439C: 41 | xxd -r - CorePlayer
$ echo 002B4718: 41 | xxd -r - CorePlayer
$ echo 002B49B4: 41 | xxd -r - CorePlayer
$ echo 002FF070: 41 | xxd -r - CorePlayer
$ echo 0030F270: 41 | xxd -r - CorePlayer
$ echo 0031A310: 41 | xxd -r - CorePlayer

And register it using the SGULKB-UCZH1R-C8EUYU-F150UG-D8UGKK serial number.

Disclaimer: I don’t host cracked binaries on my website, I only show ways to patch old and probably abandoned PowerPC applications.

How Obama's BlackBerry got secured

One source says the presidential BlackBerry can only connect to a secure base station, which can be used to hide the IMEI-number of the device and thus prevent tracking it. This would mean the White House Communications Agency has to carry such a secure base station wherever the president goes.

There must be also a secure base station inside the presidential limousine, as we can see in the picture above. First because using a foreign cell phone network would be a big security risk, but also because the limousine is most likely constructed like a Faraday cage, and therefore a BlackBerry could only be used if there’s a base station in the car itself (and probably also in Air Force One). The secure base station is probably connected to a secure satellite link with Washington. How Obama’s BlackBerry got secured

The night

→ in reply to @note#1746383240

The Road is the most optimistic thing McCarthy ever wrote, it says that the human spirit will remain fundamentally intact, even in scenarios where daily life is determined to extinguish it. If you’re going to make a declaration that strong, you need to see the true horror of the world to earn your conclusion. Show how black the night can get before you get to talk about the light with any credibility. And there will be light. There’s always been light in the darkness, and you don’t know that until you’ve been in a truly terrible place and still caught glimpses of it.

There’s more nihilism in modern movies where nothing ever matters and all values are disposable, but everybody’s cracking jokes, being witty, and writers are cooking up speeches about things they’ve spent their entire lives demonstrating they don’t actually believe.
